Summary: This is a rare “shad top” Martin D-28 from 1975. Martin didn’t do sunburst finishes very often so it's really neat seeing one that looks and plays this great. It has been well cared for but does show some play wear as many fantastic vintage guitars do. It's had a professional re-fret and is playing wonderfully with comfortable action and a nice worn-in feel.  Our guitar tech has just restrung this guitar with a new set of 12s and it sounds unbelievable.  This Martin is getting a lot of attention and turning a lot of heads here in our shop! It ships in its original blue hardshell Martin case, fully packed, padded and insured!

Body: It has a dreadnaught body shape with a 2 piece sunburst spruce top, rosewood sides, 2 piece rosewood back with multi laminate back stripe, b/c/b cream binding on top and 2 ply cream/black binding on back with single ply black pickguard.

Neck: The mahogany neck has a great classic profile, not too thin and not too thick. It has the original nut, unbound ebony fingerboard with new era correct fret wire, pearl dots, classic Martin volute and smooth Grover tuning machines. Scale length- 25 ½” Nut width- 1 11/16”

Pickups/Hardware: no pickup, has an ebony bridge, black dot white bridge pins, Grover tuning machines and black pickguard.

Cosmetics: This Martin has lots of beautiful finish checking on the top, pick wear through the finish above the rosette, some wear around the edge of the rosette, some buckle rash, minor nicks around the body and one small scratch in the neck. The bridge is holding real tight to the body, there is no “bellying up” behind the bridge but there are 2 slight gaps on the very edges between the body and the bridge. Overall this guitar is in great vintage shape and looks and plays phenomenally.

Playability: Our in house luthier has inspected and restrung this Martin with a new set of 12s. The neck is straight and it sounds and plays great. It has recently been re-fretted and is just a dream to play up and down the fretboard.

Modifications: This vintage Martin has some new frets with a recently added strap button on heel.

Weight: 4 lbs 10.5 oz.

Case: This D-28 ships in its original hard-shell case and we will ship it fully packed, padded and insured!
