Description

This guitar is startlingly close to an original 1941 Martin D-28 in every way (I’ve owned three originals from that year), other than a $100K price tag. The Madagascar rosewood on this particular example is so close to Brazilian, in looks and in tone, that it might be difficult to tell the difference when playing it with a blindfold on. You all know the deal with these: it’s constructed the real old way, with hide glue throughout, and with correct detailing of the period right down to that most-important and unique super-comfy neck shape. The Adirondack spruce top with grain matching those from seventy-five years ago completes the picture in every way. This guitar was bought here new a few years ago and immaculately kept, with just a few enthusiasm marks near the edge of the soundhole, visible to the eye but too shallow to capture with the camera; we really tried. Martin is no longer offering this model for 2017 so here’s your chance, and at an extremely attractive price. $4995 w/ohsc
