An exceptionally fine mid-1970’s Martin D-35, with perfect action and set-up, and excellent tone.

Through the 1970’s Martin’s D-35 was the company’s best selling dreadnought. Players looking for the bass response they heard in older herringbone D-28s flocked to the D-35 as it offered significantly more bottom end than the D-28 of the day. The 35 featured a more lightly braced top, which brought forward the bass response people were seeking.

This example is in beautiful condition. It’s nearly free of any kind of finish wear, and presents as a much younger guitar that it actually is. Apart from an unrepaired B-string pickguard crack the guitar is without issues. No cracks or repaired braces, the bridge is unaltered, the neck has never been reset, the pickguard is only slightly cupped, and the tuners and pins are original. We’ve just replaced the guitar’s frets, nut, and saddle, and it plays better than most any new instrument. Excellent neck angle, action of 5-6 64ths, and enough saddle height left for years of future set-ups.

Indian rosewood back and sides, sitka spruce top, ebony fingerboard and bridge. Multi-layered white bindings, bound fingerboard, black pickguard. Semi-gloss original lacquer finish, Grover tuners. 1-11/16” nut, 25.4” scale, round neck carve.

With blue thermoplastic Martin hard case
