1976 Martin D-35 w/ohsc

Summary: Introduced as part of the new 35-series in 1965, the D-35 was similar to the D-28 in its use of Rosewood for its back and sides. Key differences between the two dreadnoughts include cosmetic styling and binding details, as well as the use of a three-piece back on the D-35. Like other Martins, a major point of differentiation for the D-35 came in 1969 when Martin began the transition from Brazilian to Indian Rosewood. This D-35 has been kept in a case most of its life and is in absolutely glorious condition. It sounds and plays fantastic and ships in its original hardshell case.

Body: The D-35 features 6 ply b/w/b/w/b/w binding on a solid spruce top, rosewood sides and a beautiful 3 piece rosewood back with diagonal ornamentation and multi stripe inlay in-between. Martin used lighter bracing: 1/4" for the top, and 000 back bracing, creating a louder, more resonant tone.

Neck: It has a beautiful mahogany neck with a bound ebony fretboard with mother of pearl dot inlays, 20 frets, 1 11/16” nut width, 25 ½” scale length, rosewood headstock overlay and 4 ply w/b/w/b/w heel cap.

Pickups/Hardware: It has an ebony bridge, black pickguard and nickel plated Grover tuners.

Cosmetics: This vintage Martin is in such great condition you would think it’s a new one at first glance. There are very slight scratches on the back and some on top from picking but nothing severe. It does not appear to have had any work done, no breaks cracks or major dings to mention. There are a couple minor nicks and dings in the finish that are hardly noticeable and don’t penetrate into the wood. There is a very small amount of fret wear around the first few frets- consistent with a gently played but well cared for vintage guitar.

Playability: This guitar plays extremely well. The action is low, the neck is straight, the frets are in good shape and it has been recently strung up with a new set of 12s.

Modifications: n/a

Weight: 4lbs, 10oz.

Case: This fantastic guitar ships in its super cool, original 70’s hardshell Martin case.
