Offered for sale;
Used 1986 Martin M-36 serial number 463378.
This guitar is in excellent shape showing little playing time.
One of the more rare guitars in the Martin line. It is literally a Jumbo Orchestra version of the D-35. What does that mean? It’s wide across the hips like the Jumbo Martin J-40. But in some ways it feels smaller than a Dreadnought because the body is thin from front to back like an OM or 000 model. And the 3 piece rosewood back borrows from the D-35
We sell a lot of new M-36s. Tonally it’s one of our favorite acoustic guitars. This one has a leg up on all the rest we’ve seen most likely due to its aging for 32 years.
Years ago the top split and was professionally repaired. We recently reset the neck.
Martin produced the M-36 from 1978-1996. They were discontinued and eventually brought back into production around 2006.
The Martin M-36 has an M-size (0000) body, Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, white binding, 28-style sound hole rosette, rosewood bridge, bound ebony fingerboard and tortoiseshell pickguard.
The body is gloss body finished with a vintage toner on top.
The tone projects well and is balanced, somewhat between an OM and a dreadnought. The bass is full and punchy, and there is nice headroom for flat picking.
This is a beautiful instrument that sounds as good as it looks!
Hard shell case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
