Custom made for the 160th anniversary of Martin.

This is the 40th style guitar with the word "Custom" stamped on the neck block.
The design is not similar to D-41 or D-42, but it has a high-class look.

The rosette and trim are Avalon and can be seen wrapped on both sides of the fingerboard end. In addition, the bridge has a snowflake inlay. Looking at the body top alone, I thought it might be a D-42, but D-42s were not released until 1995. This one was made in 1993.
The fingerboard inlay is a hexagonal Avalon inlay, so it looks like a mix of D-41 and D-42.
In addition to this, the fingerboard sides are also decorated with Avalon, and the pegs are special gold with Martin's initials engraved on them.
There is no Avalon decoration on the body sides or back, but the appearance is gorgeous.

The year 1993 is a special year as Martin celebrates its 160th anniversary.
In this year, an anniversary model called D-93 was also released,
That model also used a bridge with snowflake inlays, so it must have been a special custom model for a special year. That may also be the reason. If you look inside the body, you will find Martin IV's signature on the center of the back wood above the crack stop.

Could this have led to the later release of the D-42? It is fun to imagine.

The bracing pattern is a scalloped X.
The sound is also a wonderful guitar that envelops you with the shimmering tone and luxurious feel characteristic of the 40s.
