A most unusual Custom Martin. In 2009, the Yuengling Brewery of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, founded in 1829 and America’s oldest brewery, in celebration of their 180th anniversary arranged for Martin to build them some very special guitars, to be given away in a wide-reaching radio campaign. There were ostensibly sixty of them to be made but no one is quite sure of how many actually got built. This is an amazing, top-quality Martin, worthy of their Custom Shop’s best. It is based on their very traditional high-end D-41 model, complete with scalloped top bracing, best-grade indian rosewood back and sides and Sitka spruce top, D-41 rosette and top inlay, and with extra-special, full D-45 “snowflake pattern” fingerboard inlay and low-profile, fast action neck. The official Yuengling signature logo has been inlaid in mother-of-pearl script on the 12th fret, and the full Yuengling label and “180th Anniversary” motto is prominent on the top of the guitar, under the lacquer. In addition, there are two hand-signed labels inside, one by D. Yuengling and one by CF Martin IV. “Edition # 17” is also on the label signed by CF Martin IV. Condition of this guitar is near-mint, more like Mint Unplayed, looks like it’s never been used, possibly never even out of its case. I’ve not seen another like it, total news to me; these were never sold to the public and I love it, at least partly because Yuengling happens to be just about my favorite beer. Yours for $3995 w/ohsc
