Description

From Martin’s R&D department in the mid-1990s, this most exceptional Brazilian rosewood D-45 is both wonderful and unique. In virtually unplayed condition and in storage since the day it was purchased directly from Martin in an employee sale, it is a stunning example of Martin’s finest, in every way. Perfect easy action, gorgeous loud clear tones as only Brazilian rosewood can produce. It is stamped “BRAZIL / D-45” on the neck block, with no serial number, typical of Martin’s R&D prototypes. Traditional “CF Martin & Co. Nazareth Pa. Made in USA” stamp present inside on the center back-strip. Gorgeous figured Brazilian rosewood back, sides, and peghead veneer; extremely finely-grained Sitka spruce top with select heart-of-abalone shell inlay on all borders of the entire body, in the soundhole rosette, and on the fingerboard and “CF Martin” block letter peghead inlay. Gold-plated genuine Schaller tuners with the “CF Martin” logo. Very faint evidence of a tiny, older top seam separation and one almost indiscernible back crack, nearly impossible to find. An important, rare, and most exceptional historical Martin guitar. $12,000 w/hsc
