Description

What happens when you merge the classic look and feel of a traditional Martin acoustic guitar with the technology of today's modern acoustic research? You get the Martin Performing Artist series! Like the classic Martins from years past, the Performing Artist series is crafted using nothing but the finest tonewoods. The GPC12PA4—that’s Grand Performance Cutaway 12-String Performing Artist 4, in case you’re wondering--is the first twelve string in the popular Performing Artist Series, a stage and studio-ready guitar combining a 14-fret cutaway body with a fast and comfortable Wide Taper profile neck, and Fishman’s Matrix VT Enhance NT2 onboard electronics.

Featuring solid woods throughout, the GPC12PA4 is a superb acoustic-electric guitar at a somewhat more affordable price (MSRP of $2049) than the D-28 and beyond. It features a solid sapele mahogany back and sides in a satin finish with black binding, a solid mahogany neck, and a glossy finish solid Sitka Spruce top. With its tortoise pick guard, classic multi-stripe rosette, black belly-style bridge with white black-dot pins and compensated Tusq saddle, black 14/20-fret fingerboard with white-dot inlay, Granadillo headstock overlay with raised gold foil logo, and enclosed chrome Martin tuners, this is the picture of a quality guitar--topped off, of course, with the C. F. Martin name on the headstock which says it all!

The playability and sound verify the quality promised by the name. The body dimensions are similar to those of most dreadnoughts: it has a 25.4” scale and a fingerboard width of 1 13/16” at the nut and 2 1/4” at the 12th fret. The Martin dovetail neck joint and Sitka Spruce hybrid-X 5/16” bracing of the top allow for thinner, more responsive tonewoods, making for the rich, bright sound characteristic of this model, with the added resonance and sustain of mahogany. The modified low-profile neck has been Plekked—computerized fret leveled to an accuracy of .001”--and the action is fast and comfortable at 3/32” at the 12th fret low E, which is good because you won’t want to put it down for hours.

This is a New Old Stock guitar—note the hang tags--and the playing condition is excellent, as you would expect of a new Martin: straight neck, no fret wear, solid bridge, tight tuners, and so on, and the sound is terrific—and it will only become better as it ages. Cosmetically, it’s also in excellent shape, with hardly a ding, scratch, buckle rash, or even a pick mark on the pick guard (with the plastic still on it).

The included Martin 375 hard shell case is also new and original. Naturally, the shiny hardware all works perfectly, and the thick green plush interior is in fine shape, as seen in pictures 1 and 3. As one would expect of a new hard shell case, it is an ideal complement to this excellent guitar.

Buyer pays a flat rate of $55.00 for insurance and shipping to the lower 48 states; shipping costs elsewhere will be negotiated as necessary. Payment by Paypal is preferred; cashiers and personal checks are acceptable, but checks must clear before the guitar will be shipped.

I believe that I have described this fine instrument fully and accurately. Please check out the pictures and ask any questions before offering to purchase it, as its return will not be accepted unless it can be shown that it was egregiously misrepresented in this listing.

Thank you for your interest in this fine Martin guitar.

Payments by Paypal, cashier’s checks, money orders, or personal checks are acceptable, but all payments must clear my bank before the guitar will be shipped. I will CONSIDER reasonable offers, even including installment payments and trade-ins, but generally since I already attempt to price my guitars very competitively, unusual deals must be unusually sweet.

From henceforth [that's how retired English teachers talk], insurance and shipping to the lower 48 states is $55 due to constantly rising shipping costs unless a specific listing says otherwise; shipping costs elsewhere will be negotiated as necessary. I have sold guitars to Russia, Japan, Australia, and over 50 other countries, as well as almost every state in the USA. Since some of my guitars travel thousands of miles, I take care to use lots of packing materials, protect the neck inside the case, and of course de-tune the strings.

I make every effort to describe and illustrate each guitar and case with scrupulous accuracy. However, many of my instruments are well-played vintage items which are many years old, and I am not a luthier. One should assume that any guitar will require some set-up to satisfy your personal requirements, and that not every flaw or ding will be seen/recognized/described in the listing. Thus the return of an instrument will not be accepted unless it can be shown that it was egregiously misrepresented in this listing. Please read the listing carefully, check out the pictures, and ask any questions you might have before offering to buy.
