Description

530225...left hand (factory original lefty, not converted) HD-28 that is marginally playable but needs work to be totally right and is priced as such.  AS A PROJECT PIECE THIS GUITAR IS OFFERED AS IS WITH NO APPROVAL OPTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, LOOK AT THE PHOTOS AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BUY. I GUARANTEE THE ITEM TO BE AS DESCRIBED. The guitar's back, sides and sides are in excellent condition, no cracks and minimal finish wear.  The neck, which shows significant finish wear (virtually all of the lacquer is gone from the shaft of the neck) is straight and has no damage, and the truss rod works properly.  But the neck angle is in need of reset due to some structural issues at the neck block/top.  The top has cracks on either side of the fret board extending from the neck block to the sound hole and the upper transverse brace has come loose (see pics), allowing some forward pitch of the neck block and neck under tension.  The neck needs to come off for the top repairs to be done properly and the neck angle to be restored so that good playability can be achieved again.  In addition, the center seam of the top is open and will need to be repaired.  It was repaired at some time in the past but has re-opened and will need to be done over again.  The bass side X brace under the bridge is slightly loose and will require re-gluing.  The over-sized bridge is obviously a replacement, it is slightly loose, a probe will slide about 1/8" underneath.  Whether to re-glue the current bridge or replace with a more appropriate size bridge and touch up the finish will be the decision of the next owner.  The guitar sounds good, but the action is high (8/64") with the saddle pretty much flat to the top of the bridge.  It's possible to play in the first position comfortably but not much else.  The frets show a little wear but there's life left in them, the fret board shows no wear.  The guitar comes with a vintage (60s/70s maybe?) tweed case with olive colored lining that clearly isn't original to the guitar.  Not sure what guitar the case might have originally gone with (nothing Martin made).  The case has one missing latch and one of the hinges on the lid is missing the pin, the cloth strap the holds the lid open is torn.  It's exterior cover is worn at the edges.  I guarantee the item to be as described and will accept a return ONLY under condition that it is demonstrably different than described and pictured in this listing. Offered and sold AS-IS, no returns. Thanks for your interest. $1500 + SHIPPING within the US, no international shipping offered. NYS buyers add 8% sales tax.
