1988 Martin HD-28P

Excellent condition featuring dreadnought body shape, Sitka spruce top with scalloped bracing and herringbone edge trim, Indian rosewood back and sides, decorative soundhole rosette and backstripe, tortoiseshell grain pickguard, ebony bridge, low profile mahogany neck, 1 11/16" nut width, ebony fingerboard with dot inlays, rosewood peghead veneer with CF Martin & Co gold logo, chrome plated sealed Martin tuning machines, and original black hard shell case.

This 1988 Martin HD-28P is in excellent cosmetic condition and is set up in great playing order. The guitar shows some signs of play wear including some scratches on the back treble side of the body at the waist and by the backstripe (see photos). There is one small ding on the peghead veneer above the low E string tuner and the heel cap is missing in action. The low neck profile, as noted by the P in the model name, and the 1 11/16” nut width make this guitar very comfortable to play. The frets show few signs of play wear and have plenty of play left in them. This HD-28 plays outstanding up and down the fingerboard with excellent action and great intonation. This Martin guitar sounds superb. It has a bold articulate tone with just the right amount of bottom end and a smooth top end with plenty of volume. This guitar is perfect for flatpicking and would make an exceptionally strong rhythm machine but also sounds great for fingerstyle guitar - Just a great sounding guitar for any acoustic application. This HD-28 is housed in its original black hard shell case and is ready to make someone an incredible flattop for many more years to come. You just can’t beat a good Martin guitar.
