Description

I don't typically stock many large bodied acoustics, as most of my customers and I generally prefer smaller guitars these days. That said, sometimes you need a guitar with some serious VOLUME! When that situation arises, I generally reach for a 12-fret slope shouldered dreadnought like the example offered here.

This is a Martin HD-28VS built in 2014. This lovely 12-fret Slope D has: a Sitka Spruce top; back and sides made of East Indian Rosewood; a select Mahogany modified V-shaped neck; a 25.4" scale fret board made of Black Ebony with a 16" radius, diamond and square inlays and a 1.75" bone nut; a slotted headstock with side-mounted Waverly tuners; and a Black Ebony vintage belly bridge with drop-in long bone saddle and 2.25" string spacing.

The tone of this guitar is as rich as they come and output of this instrument is astounding. When playing this guitar, I am immediately reminded as to why folks favor 12-fret guitars - the sound is HUGE! Whether playing finger-style or with a flat pick, this guitar delivers in spades. The playability is superb, with ninth fret string heights of 6/64" at the low E side and 4/64" at the high E side and there is lots of saddle remaining.

This guitar is in excellent condition. If you look very closely under high intensity lighting, you will find light evidence of play on the clear coat finish and pickguard and a couple of small impressions on the back and one on the top (see photo), but you will really have to look to find them. The overall look of this guitar is super clean. The frets are in superb condition and show no observable wear (also pictured). A K&K Pure Mini end-pin pickup has been installed to facilitate amplified playing. It ships in it's original Geib style case in near mint condition.

A new example of this model can be had for $3,600, but this superb pre-loved example can be had for much less. If you have been looking for an extremely lush sounding, 12-fret instrument with plenty of punch and at a great price, here is your guitar! Amazing....
