2012 Martin HD-28VS Natural with Aging Toner, Near Mint, Original Hard, $2,899.00
I don't typically stock many large bodied acoustics these days, as most of my customers (and I) typically prefer smaller guitars for reasons of playing comfort. That said, sometimes you need a guitar with some serious VOLUME! When that situation arises, I generally reach for a 12-fret slope shouldered dreadnought like the example offered here.
This is a Martin HD-28VS built in 2012. Part of Martin's Vintage Series, this lovely 12-fret Slope D has: a Sitka Spruce top; back and sides made of East Indian Rosewood; a select Mahogany Modified V-shaped neck; a 25.4" scale fret board made of Black Ebony with a 16" radius, diamond and square inlays and a 1.75" bone nut; a slotted headstock with side-mounted Waverly tuners; and a Black Ebony vintage belly bridge with drop-in long bone saddle and 2.25" string spacing.
The tone of this guitar is as rich as they come and output of this instrument is astounding. When playing this guitar, I am immediately reminded as to why folks favor 12-fret guitars - the sound is HUGE! Whether playing finger-style or with a flat pick, this guitar delivers in spades. The playability is superb, with ninth fret string heights of 6/64" at the low E side and 4/64" at the high E side and there is lots of saddle remaining.
This guitar is in excellent plus condition. If you look very closely under high intensity lighting, you will find extremely light evidence of play, but no dings or scratches of any significance. It is really only the nice golden color of the top that tells you that this isn't a much newer guitar and the frets are in superb condition. It ships in it's original Geib style case, also in near mint condition.
Martin is no longer making this model, although a similar guitar could be custom-ordered for around $4K or so. This superb and lightly played 2012 example can be had now and for much less. If you have been looking for an extremely lush sounding, 12-fret instrument with plenty of punch and at a great price, here is your guitar! Sure to please!

Refunds of the original purchase price less shipping and a 10% restocking fee may be requested within 48 hours of delivery.
