Martin/Kovacik HD-28 (Martin... mostly...read the description)
This HD-28 is brand new, just completed in my shop. What is it? I bought the body at Martin about 6 months ago, where it had been built in production and taken all the way through final finishing but at some point prior to installing the neck a small lacquer check was discovered in the back of the guitar, about 3" long. Production sent the guitar body over to Guitarmaker's Connection on North Street to sell it, which is where I bought it, intending to mate it with a neck that I had purchased at GUitarmaker's years ago and still had hanging around the shop. The result is the guitar you see in the pics. It is a Martin factory built HD-28 body and Martin factory made D-28 neck, which I joined to one another in my shop and installed a bridge on to complete the guitar. The lacquer check in the back of the guitar is very fine, I don't believe it is a wood crack as I cannot get it to move at all and I have flowed a small amount of cyano into it and there's no bleed through to the inside. I can't get it to show up with my camera, you can see it on in-person inspection. Anyway, the guitar matches the specs of a new HD-28 (rosewood and spruce body, scalloped braces, herringbone, etc) with the exception that the neck is from a standard D-28 so it has a 1 11/16" nut (as opposed to the HDs 1 3/4) and a 2 1/8" pin spacing. The guitar sounds as you'd expect a new D-28 to sound, big and bold, a good flat picking guitar. The action is set at 6/64" and 5/64" with plenty of saddle showing. Comes with a new hard shell case. I generally ship by UPS and will ship an item within 48 hours (usually the next day) of having received or cleared payment. Exact shipping costs will be added to the total for the buyer once the buyer has provided a shipping address. I insure everything for fulll purchase price.
Items are sold with a 48 hour approval period unless clearly marked "AS IS" in the listing. AS IS items are not returnable. If an item is going to be returned it is at the buyer's expense and the item must be shipped within 24 hours of the buyer notifying Kovacik Guitars of intent to return. Any returned items must be shipped in the original packaging and MUST be fully insured when returned. Once an item is returned to Kovacik Guitars and judged to be in the same condition as when originally sold a full refund will be issued.
