Description

A TRULY special guitar. I've heard many pro players say that the ultimate Martin guitar in their opinion is 1930-31 OM-28. When you play this one it is apparent why. The tone is absolutely beautiful and all the coveted feartures are there- long scale, Adirondack spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, herringbone trim, small pickguard, small maple bridge plate, hide glue, snowflake inlays, and hand scalloped bracing. This is one of the very lightest weight rosewood guitars that we've ever had. As such, the sustain and resonance is incredible. Unlike the vast majority of Martin models, these were not made for decades. Martin made these OM-28s for only 5 years... 1929-1933. The small pickguard and banjo tuner version stopped in very early 1931. Total numbers for the model from 1929-1933 was only 487. In 1930 they made 235 OM-28s. Through the entirety of 1931, remember small pickguards and banjo tuners were used in only very early 1931, Martin made 166 of these. Banjo tuners were originally on this guitar but have since been replaced along with the fretboard being slightly planned. The bridge plate is original and untouched but the bridge is a very good replacement- though the original bridge pins are still installed! The small pickguard, a very desirable feature, is original. The body is especially clean with very little play wear and only a single very small side crack and none in the top. There's a silk screened logo on the front of the head stock and an impressed logo on the back of the head stock. The head stock appears lightly oversprayed. Playability is impeccable on this instrument. The heel cap and end pin are also original. This guitar has a ton going for it! 65,000 dollars. Check out the sound clips below:
