Martin Ukulele Style 0 c 1955 | $675 | (vbg 2029) A clean and original example of a Martin Style 0 uke. Martin offered the ukulele in its line up for over five decades, and surviving examples all show the Martin attention to detail, quality materials, and clean workmanship. Post-WWII Martin ukes are difficult to date exactly since no serial numbers were used, nor were any major changes made in materials or components. We know that the "Made in USA" stamp appeared in '60 or '61, and this example does not have that stamped on the inside as part of the Martin stamp. This one could range in dates from late 40s through the 50s, so we listed it as c 1955.

The specs conform to what Martin called its 'standard' Style 0. The instrument is all mahogany including the bridge; the fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood, and the nut and saddle are ebony. The sound hole in bound, and the fingerboard has three position dots. The head stock sports the gold 'Martin & Co.' decal, and its impressed 'C.F. Martin & Co. Nazareth, PA' stamp inside the sound hole. The tuners are of the friction type, and typical of those used by Martin in this era of manufacture.

There appears to be no prior repairs to this uke. The action is very good, the frets and fingerboard show little wear, and no cracks are evident. There are a few nicks and scratches from time and use.

The uke plays extremely well, with the expected uke 'ring'.

Comes with a newer, Martin padded gig-bag case.
