Description

Offered for your consideration is the gorgeous Classic Artist electric by Melancon Guitars. For nearly 25 years, Gerard Melancon has been building custom electric guitars from his shop in Louisiana. Like many builders, he started as a guitar player who needed a better and affordable instrument and it grew into a full-time career. His guitars are very high quality instruments which he builds in very small quantities, the quality of which I find to be comparable with the work of Don Grosh, Mike Tuttle, Tom Anderson, John Suhr and the like, but at a decidedly lower price point. With a Melancon instrument, you get a lot of custom guitar for the money!

This Melancon Classic Artist was built in August of 2015. It has a solid Swamp Ash body with a beautiful Spalted Maple top and binding and a total weight of just 7.5 pounds. It has a Maple neck with a 60's oval C-shape, a dry satin finish and depth measurements of .82" at the first fret and .92" at the twelfth. The fret board is made of African Rosewood with a 12" radius, jumbo stainless steel fret wire and a 1.65" nut. The vibrato bridge is Melancon's own two point model. The electronics include two Melancon single coils and a Melancon "hot" PAF-style humbucker, master volume, master tone with bridge coil splitting and a five-way switch.

As you would expect, this guitar sounds very Strat-like with lots of quack and clarity. The bridge HB and coil splitting give it even greater flexibility. Please check out the brief sound sample included herein. This thing sounds superb! It plays great too, with some of the finest fret work you will find anywhere and a setup that is sure to please.

This guitar is in fantastic condition. I could call it mint if not for one tiny ding just below the neck joint bolts (see photos). This flaw aside, this beauty is in near new condition and the stainless steel frets are flawless. It comes in it's original G&G hardshell case with the vibrato arm, tools and all the original paperwork.

Get this super high-quality, one-off S-style guitar for much less than many comparable brands. Give a Melancon instrument a try and you will be a fan, as I am!
