Description

We are always excited to add another member to our guitar family, especially when they're building unbelievable instruments right down the street from us! Made 100% in the U.S., taking inspiration from the industrial style and hardworking spirit of one of the most unique cities in the world, Milwaukee's character and charm truly translates to these amazing pieces!

Brand new Milwaukee Guitar Company Chief 317, a fresh take on the semi-hollow platform, with a solid feel and build quality that is evident the second you pick it up. Starting with a stellar Flame Maple top that creates an amazing combination with the Sugar Pine body, giving it a brilliant resonance and sustain that sounds just as good acoustically as it does plugged in with the hand wound PAF humbuckers or the versatile Piezo bridge pickup that brings a plethora of additional tonal options. A solid Mahogany neck and Ebony board really round out the tone to create a balanced full tone, capable of tackling many styles...and the solid T-bar truss rod ensures a stable neck for many years to come. The "317" is finished off with custom hardware and appointments all machined by the in-house team, really letting their attention to detail shine, giving it a uniqueness and making it obvious the time and care that goes into each one of these guitars!

A word about the pickups, from David Barfuss:

These humbuckers are made alike the pickups Peter Green used on his famous L.P. which he later gave to Gary Moore !

The bridge pickup is wound with 42 AWG Plain Enamel magnet wire like all those old PAF´s were in the early years. It is wound to 8,3 K Ohm and I use a mismatched coil winging pattern.

The neck pickup is very special and is the secret of Greeny´s special blues tone. Because the original pickup on Peters guitar had been rewound with a not vintage correct magnet-wire in a wrong direction Peter received that special tone.It is build for reverse installation and wound to 7,6 K Ohm.It does not use the flipped magnet !

Both , the bridge and the neck position humbucker are scatterwound by hand.
The use of special degaused alnico V magnets gives them a vintage tone which still gives great attack and articulation without the harshness most modern burst style humbucker have.

These humbuckers are made like the pickups Peter Green used in his famous L.P. which he later gave to Gary Moore ....
