Description

Offered is this incredible Korina Bluesmaster hand built by gifted Canadian luthier Brian Monty of Ottawa. Brian's guitars are well known in the boutique guitar community for being among the finest hand-built instruments made. The Bluesmaster is obviously Brian's take on the Les Paul and he manages to keep the best aspects of the original design while instilling this model with a flair all it's own.

This custom-ordered instrument has the following specifications: a solid body made of aged Korina which has been given a hand-rubbed natural lacquer finish; a 24-3/4" scale Korina neck with Brian's '59 C-shape and depth measurements of .94" at the first fret and .98" at the twelfth fret; a gorgeous old-growth Brazilian Rosewood fretboard with 12" radius, 6150 frets and a 1-11/16" bone nut; a Tone Pros bridge and tail piece; Grover tuners; and for electronics, PRS McCarty humbuckers with classic LP wiring and controls. The guitar's total weight is just 8 pounds, 5 ounces.

I loved this guitar immediately. It is superbly resonant, perfectly balanced and very light. It reminds me of a high-end Les Paul that also has some of the characteristics of a fine old vintage Guild Bluesbird mixed in. The setup is superb and the guitar seemingly plays itself. The tone is quite LP-like, but with additional richness and clarity.

This guitar was custom ordered by a customer whose circumstances now force him to consign it for sale. It was only recently completed and is in mint/near mint condition. Replacing this guitar would cost you $5K and a significant wait, but you can get this near new beauty for substantially less.

If something really special in a hand-built Les Paul style guitar appeals to you, give this gorgeous Monty serious consideration. This is one sweet piece!
