The Axis is one of the guitars that "evolved" from what Ernie designed with Eddie. On the standard Axis the only evolution was to change the volume control knob that was labeled "TONE" 'cause Eddie wanted it that way to know that says "VOLUME". And Eddies name has been replace with "Axis". That's all you can do when you get it right the first time.
The Axis is not typically my style of guitar but it so fine (and with such attention to perfection of fit, finish and design) I would be happy if it were my only guitar. Part of the reason is the Music Man® locking tremolo with fine tuners which lowers pitch only. If you never use a vibrato you will be perfectly at home with this one. It is 100% stable (actually more so than conventional nut and bridge designs). No muss, no fuss, no bother when bending and changing string.
Play it. You'll see.
