Here we have a rare and cool Music Man Sabre bass from 1979. Although the Sabre wasn’t hugely popular when it was initially released in 1978, it has become a real go-to bass for those in the know. It’s a great design and has all tone options you could want.
Separate bass and treble controls provide both boost and cut. Bright switch provides additional treble boost. Two humbucking pickups with special winding designed to add upper register clarity. Three-way Pickup selector switch. Phase switch provides in or out-of-phase pickups. Proprietary Music Man preamp circuit.
Contoured body with deep cutaway allows access to 21st fret. Brass inserts for bridge and pickup mounting. One-piece rock maple neck with 34 inch scale and 1 5/8 inch nut width. Music Man branded Schaller tuners. Stainless steel saddles.
This Sabre is in good to very good condition. Finish has been removed from the back of the neck. A few dings and lots of attractive finish checking in the well aged white finish. Fingerboard and frets are nice and clean. This is a great looking vintage bass and it’s all original except for missing string mutes. Take this one home and you’ll be one happy camper.
