Way way pre-Ernie Ball 6-string. Alder body in Walnut finish, some honest wear but fully functional and all-original save for modern gig bag, 3-bolt maple neck with 25.5” scale length, 1 & 5/8” nut width, and 12” radius (that’s what makes it a StingRay 1, as opposed to the 7.25” StingRay 2), micro-tilt adjustment, headstock-end truss rod adjustment, Music Man-branded Kluson-style tuners, and that very ‘70s logo with the striped-pants music men on both the headstock and stamped into the neck plate, non-tremolo 6-way string-through bridge, and 3-ply black pickguard with chrome control plate. Electronics comprise 2 humbucking pickups with huge pole pieces, battery-powered active preamp, master volume, master tone, 4-way pickup selector, and pickup coil splitter. If this reminds you of both an early CBS-era Fender and and an early G&L then you’re on the right page, as this is a pure Leo Fender design incorporating ideas he’d had during his post-sale consultancy and non-compete agreement period with the company he founded. A little unusual but very well-made, extremely versatile, sounds great, and plays great, and not often seen. Made in Fullerton, California, USA.
