After selling the Fender Company to CBS in 1965, Leo Fender was not allowed by contract to have anything to do with making guitars for the next ten years.

Since the Music Man idea originated with two ex employees of Fender that left the company in the early 70's (Forrest White and Tom Walker), naturaly, in 1975, Léo Fender joined the team and was made president of Music Man.

In 1976, Music Man unveil the "StingRay I" guitar and the Sting Ray Bass".

The Sting Ray Bass was a great success and is still regarded today as one of the most iconic electric Bass of all times. But unfairly unknown the StingRay I guitar was an instrument very ahead of its time as well.

Guitare Collection presents this Music Man StingRay I from the 70's in a natural finish.

This is an active guitar mounted with two Humbucker type pickup. Ash body and a one piece mapple neck.

This is a very easy guitar to play, made for the studio. In terms of sound, it offers a mix of Stratocaster with a much more modern Suhr like and obviously, the Humbucker type pickup makes you think a bit of Gibson... (Watch Video)

The Music Man StingRay I is a rare guitar and a piece of Guitar history (like everything Leo Fender touched really) and this one is curently for sale, exclusively at Guitare Collection, Paris !
