I was in Nuremberg, Germany at Zeppelinfield with about 70,000 or so fellow metalheads at the Monsters of Rock festival. That was a long, long time ago, but I remember (among a few other specific events that shall remained unnamed) the headliners, AC/DC make their entrance as the last act of the night. A single spotlight hit on Angus as he stood on top of his rig. As the band kicked into "Guns For Hire," he jumped off of that stack of speakers, the band fired up and it was on like Donkey Kong. That's my somewhat fuzzy recollection, but the band was in full effect and being a bass player, I was locked in on Cliff Williams. Never a flashy bassist, he held down the bottom of what would become decades of hits for the band and I would learn many of these songs in later years in several cover bands. Ride the E, ride the A and follow the guitars in the chorus- that carried me through many a night in the 80's and 90's.

Simply put, I've been a fan for a long time, so when we got the call to acquire two of Cliff's personal basses, "excited" would be a mild term to describe my reaction. Lee put the deal together to purchase two of Cliff's Stingrays and when they arrived, I could not wait to open the packages. There they were, in all their glory and exactly as we got them from our guy who procured the basses directly from Cliff. This '78 Stingray has some playwear, which is evidence of being wielded to bang out those classic songs for years and we decided to do something different with these basses. We did not clean, restring or adjust them in any way. They are exactly as they came from the Man himself, so if you see a smudge or fingerprint on them, they were put there by Mr. Williams and there they'll stay. To get the opportunity to briefly own one of these iconic basses is an incredible treat for me and you'll have to forgive me for running through a couple of AC/DC songs on these basses before shooting them. I'm quite sure the new owners will do the same and I'll never blame them a bit. This package includes the bass, original case and a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Cliff. I will also email a short video of him signing the COA's to the new owner. Please call or email with any questions and thanks, as always for visiting 'Elkland!
