A 2017 Nacho Banos 1949 Pine Sandwich Prototype II Replica Tele in Natural Pine finish.

Pretty much everyone in the world knows that Nacho Banos makes the most amazing vintage Tele reproduction guitars, but only a few have had the pleasure of owning and playing one of Nacho's creations. This one is modeled after Leo's second Tele prototype from 1949 with a unique sandwich Pine body, prototype-style bridge, custom repro pickup, and many other details.

At 5 pounds even, this guitar is light as a feather, but the roaring prototype bridge pickup will make you cry for joy. This guitar is in excellent, all-original condition and has been lovingly set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech to play its very best. Comes with a Fender hard shell case. If you're interested in purchasing this remarkable guitar, please call us and we'll be happy to provide an in-hand description and answer any questions you may have. The guitar comes with original documents and Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

MORE DETAILS FROM NACHO:

The tuners come with plastic buttons with side anchoring hole, cut in 6 independent units just like Leo did with the first two guitars. We analyzed the original (pickup) and made a perfect reproduction with red forbon, no elevator plate, an extra lead for ground, and early lap-steel magnets and coil, with the same reading as the original. Blank proto style bridge plates with angled steel saddles just like the original. We scanned the original guard, made a CNC program to cut correct vintage composition phenolic fiber, lacquered and aged in the same exact fashion. We X-rayed the original body, searched for a similar grained Oregon Pine and replicated a CNC program to cut a sandwich body leaving the same inner chambers. I lacquered the body in white, then in red lacquer, then stripped it and clear lacquered (the body) like the original guitar. We left traces of white and red just in the same spots where the original has them. We also used the original neck as a template to replicate the wear spots and pattern in fingerboard/back. The result is an amazing resonating featherweight tone monster. This guitar is a clear detour from what came later in 1950 with the solid body Esquires and Broadcasters.
