SN: S6442. Killer sounding and rare 13 ½ fret National Style O with slotted headstock. Seeing the future the Dopyera brothers sought to create a 14-fret guitar without retooling the body. The interesting result is a longer scale Style 0 made only a short period of time. The added scale length got them almost to 14-frets clear (but not quite) and gives the fingerstyle player more feedback on the strings and a slide player a little more tension. It has the bound neck, the chicken foot cover plate, original cone, bridge, and biscuit. The frets have been replaced at some point. I’ve had the neck reset and the frets leveled. The body is in nice shape with no significant dents although some minor scratches on the back and finger wear on the cover plate. It has the cool old series 6 etching on the back with the canoe to the west, two volcanos, six stars, and the palms trees that look like bones. The neck is 1 ¾” at the nut and has the soft V of the classic 30’s neck that we love so much. I've installed new period correct National tuners which work much better than the originals and paired it with a thermoplastic case that fits well and does the job.
