National’s first brass-bodied single cone model, the Style O, was launched in the middle of 1930 and went on to become one of the most iconic guitar models of all time. This instrument was built in early/mid 1933 and is a near perfect example of National’s 12-fret Style O model. It features a nickel-plated brass body with etched tropical scenes, flat-cut F-holes, bound ebonized maple fingerboard and a round and full-feeling neck.
Original tuners, nut, frets, cone and biscuit. No repairs other than a cleanly executed neck reset. The action is set at 5-7 64th, and the guitar is set up for fingerstyle playing. 1-13/16” nut width, flat fingerboard, 25” scale.
A beautifully sweet-sounding resonator, this Style O has mellowed well but hasn’t lost its definition or power.
