This is an unusually well preserved National Triolian from 1930. Most of these tend to fade to yellow or pea soup green-the red and blue elements simply disappear over time. This one still has some vibrant color to it especially in the blues. These are metal bodied wood necked (round profile) single cone resonators and were hugely popular in the 30's when the Hawaiian music craze was at its peak. This might be the nicest one out there. Cool Hawaiian sunset on the back. It's been played (and played and played) but the original frets are still good and there is moderate wear to the fingerboard. Easy playability and wonderful tone. The case is a period correct hard case (Geib?) in excellent condition.
