1981 Oakland XB100 Long Scale Bass

This cool old bass is in excellent vintage cosmetic condition. This instrument shows some minor play wear and age throughout including some very small dings around the body edges, one small ding on the top of the instrument below the bridge and some tarnishing of the brass bridge unit. One screw is missing from the electronics cavity cover plate. Otherwise, this bass is very tidy and nice! This Oakland has a great feeling medium chunky U shaped neck profile that is easy and comfortable to play. This bass also features neck through construction with a sculpted heel. The fret wire is in excellent condition and has tons of life left. This instrument plays outstanding up and down the rosewood fingerboard with low comfortable action and great intonation. The electronics in this bass are all original, have not been tampered with and are in excellent operating order. The original pickups sound great and have strong output. These pickups have the appearance of DiMarzio but they are Japanese made P-bass style pickups with hexagon pole pieces. This bass is also has a comfortable weight at 7lb 4oz. The original hard shell case is included and in pretty good shape, but two of the latches are not in good working order. This Oakland XB100 is extremely well made and is very reminiscent of the Aria Pro instruments from this period. A superbly cool, well built 42 year old bass!
