Long-time Folkway website watchers will know all about how highly we regard Oskar Graf’s guitars, but it’s rare that we have one of his classicals to offer. This example features a lattice-braced Western red cedar top and Indian rosewood back and sides, a scale of 648mm and a French-polished top.
Graf’s attention to detail is the stuff of legend around here. His workmanship is on par with the best in the world. He marries tastefully simple ornamentation with masterfully designed bracing and construction for the most favorable outcomes, and crafts guitars that are equally beautiful to the eyes as they are to the ears. That’s a tough act to follow.
This Graf classical features a unique lattice design with a stiff rosewood transverse lower soundhole brace for power and balance. The guitar has a strong bass register and clear, precise and even treble response. There is excellent definition throughout, and a precision not normally associated with cedar-topped guitars.
The fingerboard has a slight radius for comfort and a nut width of 52mm. String spread at the bridge is 60mm.
Perfectly applied French polish finish, bone nut and compensated saddle. The guitar is exquisitely completed with a set of hand-crafted Jorg Graf tuning machines, which, themselves, are a work of high art.
In excellent condition with light fingernail marks on the top and minor string-end wear adjacent to the back of the bridge. No repairs or issues, set up with low concert action and EJ-45FF strings.
With lightweight molded hardshell case
