Description

Dark sunburst, great condition, all-original. Solid Honduran mahogany body with bolt-on Honduran mahogany neck, 8.6 pounds overall, bound ebony fingerboard with MOP diamond inlays, 1 & 5/8" nut width, sealed metal tuners with stylized Ovation bowlback stamp, 2-ply black pickguard, a pair of proprietary 12-pole dual-winding humbucking pickups, onboard FET preamp powered by 2 9-volt batteries, master volume and tone (featuring truly enormous knobs), 2-position mid-cut filter, 3-way pickup selector with neck, middle, and both in out-of-phase configuration, surface-mount bridge with black crackle finish and giant nylon saddles, cast backplate for battery compartment. So, when Kaman wasn't making helicopter rotor blades and F-14 Tomcat control surfaces, they dabbled quite successfully in guitars with their Ovation unit, and achieved a semi-dominant market position with acoustics in the '70s and '80s, and also made a series of arguably bizarre but high-quality electric instruments, and were seen in the hands of a rather crazy variety of players, from Roy Clark and Steve Marriott to Wire and XTC. Great build quality, low-noise wide-range pickups with lots of tonal options, a comfortable neck, and comes in its original hard case. Made in New Hartford, Connecticut, USA.
