This Ovation R868 is easily the most versatile acoustic guitar we currently have in stock. There are three ways to enjoy it and each is both fun and unique-I spent so much time trying it out, I lost a good bit of an afternoon and The Open is on, for Pete's sake. Here are the details:

To just sit and play this guitar acoustically is reward enough. It's bright, with a great, round and balanced tone that projects in a very effective and excellent manner. More than once it has become the "living room" guitar as it found its way onto the guitar stand next to my big chair in the front room.

Now the fun got even better-just plug the guitar into any amp using the guitar output jack and you effectively have an electric guitar. I tried everything from a sweet, chorus/reverb sound to an outright Heavy Metal distortion through a small modeling combo. Haven't had this much fun since the time I lit up Margie Mayfield's cat with a 100-watt Marshall full-stack back when our office was in Douglasville, Ga. This time, I succeeded in pissing off my current next-door neighbor, but no mind- the fun I had was worth every second of that evil stare...

Lastly, when paired with Roland GR-1, you'll again lose track of time as you explore the possibilities of what this guitar can do. I managed to make it sound like a drum machine, a marimba, an oboe, a trumpet, a piano and even a Hammond organ among other sounds and I spent too much time explaining to the mother-in-law exactly how an acoustic guitar can sound like a kick drum and snare. Some things shouldn't have to be explained, just enjoyed.

The package comes with paperwork, tags, and even the rarely-sighted rubber plugs that go into the small sound holes in the face. These are more than likely to reduce feedback and to be honest, it's the first set of such items I've ever seen. Cool- they came in with the guitar, so they're going back out with it. The guitar itself is in excellent condition and has no signs of wear, body damage, cracks or repairs. It's exceptionally clean for a 25-year-old acoustic.

Please take a look at the detailed pictures, let us know if you have any questions and as always, thanks for stopping by.
