Summary: The Ovation Viper guitars were made in America by the Ovation company in the mid 1970’s and they were built to last & have stood the test of time. This vintage Ovation is in good condition and has just been inspected & set up with a new set of 10’s. The action is low, the truss rod is fully functional & this guitar plays great up & down the fingerboard.
Body: Solid body, single cutaway electric guitar with a natural finish.
Neck: Bolt on maple neck, 24 frets, black dot inlays, 25.5” scale length, 1 9/16” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: 2 Ovation single coil pickups, 3-way switch, one volume, one tone, large knobs, Ovation closed back tuning keys, ovation fully adjustable bridge, black pickguard with “Viper” logo.
Cosmetics: This vintage guitar has been played but it has been well cared taken cared for and it was made to last for years to come. There are signs of pick scratching, several descent sized dings on the body, some signs of checking in the finish in several places. One of the big knobs is cracked and broken off in a few places, but it is still working the way it is. The fingerboard has lots of wear around the edges. The frets have plenty of life left but there are some divots on the first 3 or 4 frets and you can tell it has been played a lot. There is also a ding on the back of the headstock.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functioning and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in good shape and it plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard with no dead spots or choking out.
