This 2008 Paul Reed Smith CE 24 serial number 8CE33398 is in excellent condition, neck and frets are fine, cosmetically quite clean. This instrument shows very little playing time, presents well.
The PRS CE 24 was introduced in 1988 and features a double-cut away carved maple-topped, mahogany body. Early production and later production models after 2000 utilized an alder body. A one piece bolt-on 24 fret maple neck with the signature wide-thin neck carve utilizes a 25”scale length and 10” radius rosewood fretboard. The nut width is 1 11/16”, the profile at the 1st fret is .790” and at the 12th fret is .860”.
The neck pickup is the PRS Vintage Bass Humbucker which is the evolution of the original Standard Bass pickup. The Vintage Bass has a warm high-mid sound that is excellent for rock or jazz. The bridge pickup is the PRS HFS Humbucker which is stock on Custom 24s, CE24s, and Standard 24s. HFS originally meaning “Hot, Fat and Screams”. The HFS features a powerful Alnico ceramic magnet (DC Res: 8.5K) and hot coils for an aggressive tone when cranked, clear highs, searing midrange and thumping bass. A coil-tapping 5-way rotary pickup selector and volume/tone controls complete the electronics. PRS tremolo with locking tuners and the Paul Reed Smith signature logo headstock complete the package.
The original CEs where known simply as the "PRS Electric" but by 1995 these models were labelled PRS CE. PRS couldn't use the model name "Classic Electric" due to trademark issues with Peavey so they used the abbreviation CE instead.
Paul Reed Smith guitars have created quite a niche for themselves; they are visually beautiful and sonically diverse offering big tone in a very playable, comfortable guitar. Weighing in at 7.4 lbs., this is a sweet instrument at an even sweeter price.
Original hard case included.
***Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.
