1987 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 in a really vibrant BLACK CHERRY FLAMETOP FINISH in excellent overall condition, with original PRS hardshell case, trem arm, and original paperwork - serial number 7 39xx. Firstly, most of the Black Cherry finishes we have seen are all a bit on the dark and somewhat dull side - but THIS one has a really nice 'glowing' quality to it. In fact, initially - we assumed it was the Scarlet Red finish - which tends to be brighter. This is a super super cool color - very bright! This early PRS Cu24 is in absolutely stock and original condition - with the exception of the gold schaller straplock strap buttons. Original PRS buttons are readily available online. This 87 Cu24 features the famous T and B humbucking pickups with the 'Sweet Switch', one piece trem, PRS 'moon' inlays, Brazzy rosewood fretboard, and a really beautiful FLAMED MAPLE TOP. Condition wise we would conservatively rate this PRS at about an 8 out of 10. There are some light buckle scratches on the back side, some scratches to the back plate, a chip on the edge of the guitar's bottom, a chip near the top strap button, some wear to the plating on the bridge saddles, and some 'divoting' on the first 6 frets - mostly from playing chords - but there is a ton of life left on these fat frets - and she's super easy to play. ALSO - this is def an early PRS as one of the sounds on the 5-way rotary is the famous 'cocked wah' out of phase sound that can only be found on the very earliest models. These early production PRS guitars are tougher to find, these days - and this is a really nice example of an early Custom 24 in a really nice color - with a GREAT Flame Top! These are a joy to play and hold, and are wonderful to look at as well. More photos available - please feel free to call for an in hand description 859-261-5500. Thanks.
