Description

Offered here is one of the most flexible and beautiful guitar designs available, a PRS Hollowbody II in Tortoise Shell finish and built in 2001. This guitar model is a personal favorite of mine and many other players.

This is a 22 fret, 25" scale guitar with highly flamed "10" grade maple used for both the top and back of the carved archtop body. Mahogany is used for the neck and sides and the body is bound in figured Maple. The neck carve is PRS' Wide/Fat shape (now known as their Pattern neck) and is a nice chunky C-shape. It has a dark, rosewood fretboard with a 10" radius, a 1-11/16" nut and fancy abalone Bird inlays. The pickups are PRS' Archtop humbuckers and the guitar has piezo elements built into the adjustable stoptail bridge. Controls include a three-way switch for the humbuckers, volume, tone, blend and a three way switch for the piezo system.

With it's flexible electronics, there isn't much this guitar cannot do. I've seen this guitar model used for everything from jazz to rock to solo singer/songwriter duty. Multiple inputs allow you to plug into single or dual amp sources, or directly into your PA or sound board. Please check out the brief sound sample provided. This instrument gives you loads of tonal options, all in one guitar!

It is incredibly light and comfortable to play, weighing just 5.2 pounds! It is completely hollow except for a very small solid piece under the bridge which connects to the top and back. It is a joy to play and is one of the most beautifully-built guitars on the planet.

While built in 2001, this guitar remains in excellent condition with just a few tiny impressions around the "F" hole and on the headstock overlay which I have attempted to photograph. The medium/jumbo frets remain in very good condition with years of play left in them. It comes in it's OHSC which is also in very good condition with a few scuffs around the edges.

These guitars are very labor-intensive and expensive for PRS to manufacture. A new example similar to this one will now cost close to $7K. Get this beautifully 2001 example for less than half that sum. Make this marvelous acoustic/electric guitar yours today!
