Description

Offered here is perhaps the finest solid body guitar PRS has ever produced this side of one of their far more expensive Private Stock Models. This is a Modern Eagle I (with trem) built in 2007.

This original Modern Eagle has a carved and highly figured maple top matched to a mahogany back. The 22-fret neck and fingerboard are both made of Brazilian Rosewood. The neck has a 10” radius with ripple Abalone bird inlays. The headstock overlay is also Brazilian Rosewood with an inlaid Modern Eagle logo. It has an ultra-thin satin nitro-cellulose finish in "Faded Blue Jean." The electronics include PRS Modern Eagle “RP” pickups with volume, tone and a three-way toggle. Most of these doublecut models were built with stop-tail bridges, but this is one of the few given a trem bridge with a drop in arm. This luscious guitar has a total weight of just 8.25 pounds (8 pounds, 4 ounces).

I just love the look and feel of these first generation ME's. The premium woods and the satin finish give them the look and feel of a well-preserved vintage instruments. This guitar is particularly lively and resonant, even as PRS guitars go and it nearly plays itself. The tone is like that of an old LP to my ears; just check out the brief sound sample included.

This guitar remains in excellent, but not perfect condition. It has a bit of hard to see finish checking around the bridge and a 1" check on the back. The bridge. and pickup covers show a tiny bit of oxidation. The fabulous suede leather case shows a few scuffs along the bottom edge. I've shown these flaws in my photos. These little issues aside, this guitar remains in superb condition and the frets show little to no wear.

This guitar will destroy most any Les Paul you can find and with it's Brazilian Rosewood neck and trem bridge, it really isn't a fair comparison. These instruments are relatively rare and highly desirable and this example is offered at a great price. Make this fabulous PRS yours. You will be very glad you did!
