Description

Offered for your consideration is this very cool PRS Special 22 Semi-Hollow, a model which was introduced in 2018 as a limited edition. However, it has been so popular, PRS has added to it's list of "Core" models for 2021. I haven't seen any of the new year models yet (which I am advised will be identical to this guitar), but check out this beautiful 2020 example in drop dead gorgeous "Santana Yellow." And as a 2020, this guitar has PRS' new nitrocellulous finish!

The Special is a short scale (25") instrument based on PRS' Custom 22. It has a semi-hollow Mahogany body with a flamed Maple top and a single F-hole. This example weighs just 7 pounds, 2 ounces. The highly figured Maple top on this instrument is finished in one of the better PRS' colors IMHO. It has a Mahogany neck with PRS' "Pattern" carve which is an updated version of their former "Wide/Fat" neck shape and has a depth of .875" at the first fret. The fretboard on this guitar is made of very dark Rosewood with a 10" radius, medium fret wire and a 1-11/16" tusq nut. The Special has a PRS Gen III vibrato bridge and Phase III locking tuners.

The Special has an extremely flexible tone menu thanks to three pickups; 58/15 MT humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions and a PRS Narrowfield in the middle. Controls include a master volume, master tone, a five-way blade switch and mini toggles to split the neck and bridge humbuckers. This setup allows this guitar to make almost any tone you can think of, from thick humbucker crunch to Strat quack and Tele twang, along with everything in between. The guitar's semi-hollow construction adds a airy, woody voice that is marvelous and adds to the guitar's flexibility. Please check out the brief sound sample and the included video from PRS.

As a PRS, this guitar is built with a quality that few other manufacturers can duplicate and it nearly plays itself. It's light weight and superb setup make it a joy to play. Please check out the brief sound sample and the PRS review video provided herein. These things cook!

This instrument has seen little play. It has just one tiny flaw that I can find, a tiny dimple near the volume knob (see photo). Otherwise, it could pass for new, frets included. It comes in it's original PRS case, also in like new condition, along with the trem arm, "Bird Tag" and all the other paperwork and accessories.

Make this 'Swiss Army Knife" of a guitar yours today while you can!
