Description

If you are in the mood for something really special and self-indulgent, please take a close look at this fabulous little Preston Thompson Style 2 Parlor built in 2018.

This sweet little piece has Redwood top made from the 150+ year old support beams of an old Southern Pacific Railroad tunnel that was cut from Redwood trees, themselves thousands of years old. It is said that the "Tunnel 13" that this wood came from has quite a history, including being the site of a famous gold robbery in 1923. The back and sides of this guitar are made of figured Madagascar Rosewood and it has a 12-fret Mahogany neck. The neck has a (very soft) V profile which measures .83" deep at the first fret by my measurement. It has an Ebony fretboard and bridge, a slotted headstock, Ivoroid binding, herringbone top trim, a Style 28 rosette and 3 on a plate Waverly tuners with Ivoroid buttons. It has a 24.9" string scale, a 1-23/32" bone nut and a bone saddle with 2-1/4" string spacing.

Despite it's small size (18" body length with a 12-3/16" lower bout with a total weight of just 3 pounds, 9 ounces), this guitar has an amazing output. Just listen to the short sound sample of this guitar below along with the included video of another Thompson Style 2 guitar in action. This thing is amazing! It nearly plays itself and is setup with 12th fret string heights of 6/64" on the low E side and 4/64" on the high E side with a new set of light gauge Elixir Phosphor Bronze strings.

This guitar is in near mint condition with just the lightest evidence of prior play and the frets show no observable wear. It comes in it's original TKL hard case, also in superb condition.

I cannot think of a finer instrumental couch partner for the approaching winter evenings. Just a fabulous and very intimate, ultra-high-quality instrument from Preston Thompson Guitars of Sisters, Oregon. Make this little beauty yours!
