Freshly set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech, this PRS Santana model is dialed in and ready to join you onstage at your next gig. This "Wood Library" series includes custom woods like the matching Ziricote headstock overlay and fingerboard wood. Artist-grade Flame Maple top as well as a Flame Maple neck. Carlos Santana's longstanding creative partnership with Paul Reed Smith has done much to shape the destiny of PRS Guitars. Over the years, we have honored this pivotal alliance by offering variations of his signature model instrument. The Santana Retro pays homage to the early "Pre-Factory" guitars Paul built for Carlos in the early 1980's. Several unique design elements are reintroduced on this model, including a deeper body carve, original style heel, and the original headstock shape and nut placement.

The Santana Retro blends history and modern manufacturing to create a highly musical guitar good enough for the man himself.

REGARDING PRS "WOOD LIBRARY" INSTRUMENTS:

Guitars often come through our production line and out of our doors labeled as “Wood Library” guitars. But what does it all mean!? In this post, we attack this question head on and try to explain these unique instruments.

Tucked away upstairs in a corner of our 85,000 square foot factory are racks of extraordinary wood. Maple, mahogany, korina, rosewood, swamp ash, you name it. Dozens of species of timber hanging out in this area we call the “Wood Library.”

The Wood Library program is in a way similar to our Private Stock program in that it is an elaborate menu-based program for the PRS Core line of guitars designed to give our dealers the opportunity to build special runs for their store and customer base.
