Description

Rafaele Tieri Plectrum Guitar ca. 1925 - 35 VG+ I've probably seen as many Tieri instruments as anyone but this is the first plectrum guitar I've seen and with it's 15 3/4" body it's one of the largest Tieri instruments I've seen. And it is a strong instrument with plenty of meat in the lower range (I've got it tuned to G D A E with beefy bronze strings) and in the upper ranges as well. (to which you have access thanks to the cutaway) Scale length is 26" and nut width is 1 1/8". The angle ladder braced top is original finish dark stained spruce with several stable well repaired cracks. The sycamore 5 ply center striped (which is typical of Tieri) back has a slight and stablized center seam separation near the bottom but no other cracks and the sides are crack free and joined at the bottom by a walnut end strip. The five ply laminated neck is Brazilian Rosewood with side marquetry in Italian colors. These colors also adorn the pearl star inlaid headstock. The original tuning pegs are a bit stiff but work fine. All binding is tight and intact including that on the cutaway. The heel is clean and the screw that someone put there has been left alone. The bridge is an unusual and clever arrangement with the Brazilian rosewood bridgeplate on the top surface and a floating adjustable bridge sitting on it. It certainly works well and is completely original. The stunning deco pickguard is of a thoroughly modern material (for the day). Fresh neck set and fret job and setup. This is a fabulous instrument. Period soft shell case in Ok shape.
Price: $3500.00

There are lots more pictures of this guitar at my actual website which can be found at http://www.vintageinstruments.com. Thanks
