This Regal Junior Jumbo is likely from the late 40s or early 50s. The Junior Jumbo shape is similar to the Gibson made Kalamazoo KG-11, but the Junior Jumbo has a full 15" lower bout making it larger than the KG-11. The scale length is 24 3/4", the nut width 1 11/16". The back and sides are solid mahogany, the top is solid red spruce. The top is excellent quality and well quartered. The neck is maple with a Brazilian rosewood fret board and bridge. The head stock has a very cool block letter logo on a black head stock veneer. The guitar appears to be all original with the exception of the tuners, which are modern replacements made by Grover, and it is possible as well that the pins are replaced. The neck has been reset at Kovacik Guitars, the angle is perfect. The bridge plate has had a small maple veneer installed to repair some chip out at the pin holes. The original finish is very clean, showing only minor dings and scuffs. There is some play were through the finish just below the high E string but the wood is not worn. The lacquer on the top shows fine crazing all over, a very good look for this little burst beast. The action is set to be comfortable for pick style or finger style play. The E strings measure 6/64" and 5/64" under tension of light strings with plenty of saddle showing. The guitar is great for ragtime and country blues finger picking but also a good choice for old time strumming for vocal accompaniment. The guitar has the mid-range heavy tone typical of ladder braced instruments but with more warmth on the bottom than most and substantial trebles. Rare and cool. Comes with a chip board case that may be original, but I can't say with certainty. $899
