Here is a very early production Slanted Fret Rickenbacker guitar. The 481SF was introduced to the Rickenbacker price list in 1973 but was not in continuous production until a few years later. The model featured a pair of Rickenbacker produced humbucking pickups. The first run of these pickups featured a black plastic cover and 6 exposed pole pieces. Later, the 481 would feature Rickenbacker's standard humbucker design with chrome covers and 12 exposed pole pieces. This guitar features the earliest example of Rickenbacker's humbucking pickups. In fact this one is similar to the Burgundy example shown in the 1975 Rickenbacker Catalogue. This guitar is in excellent original condition with one missing neck pickup pole piece. Mapleglo finish, phase switch, 1974 dated pots, bridge cover, and slanted fret neck. Guitar comes with the original hardshell case. A collectible early model.
