Offered is this outrageous Tahitian Coral Ronin Mirari built in 2015. I read Dave Hunter's review of the Mirari in Guitar Player a while back and ever since had wanted to try one. Well, let me tell you, this is one very cool guitar!

The Mirari's body is made from a batch of very old reclaimed Redwood. It is very light and extremely resonant. The total weight of this guitar is just 7.3 pounds (7 pounds, 5 ounces). The body is given a very thin matte finish of un-catalyzed nitrocellulous lacquer with nothing added to diminish the resonance and tone of the guitar. The matte finish is hand aged/distressed and the result is a guitar that really has the feel and vibe of a vintage instrument.

The neck on the Mirari is made of a very high grade of Honduran Mahogany and is hand-shaped. It feels fabulous, like a very fine piece of antique furniture. The neck carve on this guitar is a "Wide C" with depth measurements of .90" at the 1st fret and .95" at the 12th. The fretboard is made from very high quality Rosewood and is very dark and rich looking with clay dot markers. This fretboard has a 10" radius, the nut is 1-5/8" wide and made of unbleached bone and the frets appear to be medium/jumbos.

In addition to it's fine tonewoods, it is the electronics which give the Mirari it's unique character. This guitar is bestowed with a matched set of Ronin's own Foilbucker pickups. These pickups are built in-house and are designed to reproduce the tone of vintage DeArmond units. These pickups give the Mirari a tone like nothing I've played in quite a while. You can tell you are playing a humbucker when you crank them up; they have a great overdriven sound and don't get muddy. At lower volumes these pickups give the Mirari an airy clarity and chime that I really like. I'm generally a neck pickup player, but the fat richness of these Foilbuckers allows me to use and enjoy both pickups and all three switch positions. The controls include VTT, a three-way switch and push-button coil taps for each pickup to give you even more tonal flexibility. You will love the sounds this guitar can produce!

The overall feel of this guitar makes me think of a very light, resonant and particularly well setup vintage instrument. I particularly love the "old" feel of the hand-carved Mahogany neck. This guitar is so well setup that it almost seems to plays itself. With it's fine Mannmade trem bridge and Hipshot tuners, the tuning stability is superb. The rich tone of these relatively unique pickups is just icing on the cake.

This superb guitar is in great (albeit factory aged) condition and the frets show zero wear. It comes in a non-original G&G case with the trem arm. The original soft case is stained and torn and no longer worthy of this fine instrument. Also, the hand-written COA that Ronin normally includes with their instruments is MIA.

These guitars are now selling for around $5K new, but you can have this fine example for quite a bit less. If you are looking for a very high-quality electric and are game for something just a little different, this superb Ronin Mirari may be just what the doctor ordered. Wild and wonderful if I do say so myself!
