Description

EC, 27-3/8'' scale, ~11-1/2'' head size, ebony fretboard with nice engraved pearl inlay and multiple underlays, elaborately carved heel in cherry neck (lion's head and flowers in deep relief - 9-1/2'' of carving), 28 brackets, metal clad rim with elaborate floral engraving on outside and much fancy floral marquetry on inside, fancy engraved inlays cover most of the front of the headstock (flowerpots, flowers, butterflies), heavily carved flowerpot in back of headstock, carved dowel stick, modern geared 5-Star planetary tuners and geared 5th with pearloid buttons, later Waverly tailpiece, 4 replacement hooks and nuts, this is a very fine example of Stewart craftsmanship. It is virtually identical in ornamentation to the banjo on page 174 of the Tsumura ''1001 Banjos'' book, sold AS-IS (would benefit from a dowel stick reset because of slightly high action, minor counter-bow in neck, small missing inlay after the 19th fret, setup, etc.), with HSC, EC (SN:7497) Item ID 60U-3043
