There’s nothing quite like a lightly built all-mahogany 00 size guitar. The Santa Cruz Guitar Company builds some of the most lightly made flat-tops on the market, and the combination of their design and the South American mahogany body’s tonewood makes for a truly beguiling playing experience. The guitar is articulate and responsive to a light touch, balanced and even keeled, and has a mellow and sweet fundamental and overtones that are complex but well-tempered.

The instrument is amazingly comfortable to hold and to play, its 00-sized 12 fret body positions the player’s hands and arms in about the most naturally ergonomic position. The neck features a short scale of 24.9”, a 1-3/4” nut width, and a soft-V carve. It has a gloss lacquer finished neck which adds to the vintage feel of the instrument.

This 00-29 was ordered with a 30’s Martin style tobacco sunburst finish. It’s a subtle touch, but adds a lot to the looks of the guitar. The guitar’s matching mahogany bindings were carefully masked before the sunburst, leaving a striking look to the binding.

Very light scalloped top bracing, ebony pyramid bridge and fingerboard, bone nut and compensated saddle, ivoroid headstock logo, vintage style Schaller tuners with ebony buttons. This example was ordered with its pickguard supplied but unattached. We’d be happy to mount the pickguard at the buyer’s request.
