SN: 4984. NEW PRICE. Here is a very finely crafted dreadnought in showroom condition with the forward X and scalloped bracing of a prewar Martin dread with East Indian Rosewood back and sides and style 18 type appointments. Santa Cruz considers this an entry-level guitar but the quality is comparable to their high end, particularly the tone woods. The Sitka top is quite select with fine, even grain. The EIR is straight grain with some nice patterning created by the oils. The mahogany neck is a full feeling 1 11/16ths at the nut with string spacing of 2 3/16“at the bridge. This was a player’s guitar but there’s only the slightest evidence of pick wear on the guard and no fret wear or fingerboard devoting. Neck shape is a slight V with a diamond volute that feels just right. Vintage style tortoise guard, small dot position markers, ebony bridge and fretboard complete this classic look. The tone is big and warm with subtle overtones. The action is medium low with a full height saddle. A great player with a nice pedigree at a nice price. Set up with a professionally installed LR Baggs Anthem Acoustic Soundhole Microphone/Undersaddle Pickup ($300 value) and strap button.
