It is unusual for any Santa Cruz guitar like this to come on the market. Santa Cruz only makes about 450 guitars a year these days and back then, far fewer. This is a Model H Cutaway, and by the serial number hand-written on its label is the 69th Model H made, with "8-89" being added as the date of manufacture. It’s a really, really lovely guitar, of a really comfortable size and shape, what many would call “concert size”. The back and sides are of spectacularly flamed koa, the top of extremely fine-grained Sitka spruce. The white binding on the fingerboard matches the white binding on the top and back; this is a cosmetically conservative, powerful instrument. An active pickup system with volume control neatly tucked under the edge of the soundhole has been added at a later date. Nut width is 1-3/4”, the perfect orchestra model size, with a very alluring neck shape. Condition overall is A-1; not an issue anywhere. The tones are big and bright, as only koa can produce; the action is smooth and fast, as set up right here in our own shop. A new Santa Cruz like this will sell for about $9,000; we are offering this loveliest of well-cared-for and incomparable Santa Cruz guitars at $3395 w/ohsc
