Description

Seuf guitars are hand-made by Dave Seuferling who builds very small quantities of Fender-style guitars out of his Kansas City area shop. Offered here is a Seuf "Old Hand 19" which is Dave's version of a moderately aged 60's era Stratocaster. I'm guessing this example was made around 2010 or thereabouts. If you are looking for an incredible value in an extremely high-quality aged Strat-style guitar, check this baby out.

This OH-19 has an Alder body with a full nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Dave is known for his high quality and very realistic aging work and this guitar is a great example. The total weight on this instrument is just under 8 pounds. The neck is made from a single piece Maple which has been given a soft V-shape with depth measurements of .82" at the first fret, increasing to .96" at the twelfth fret. Dave has removed most of the finish from the back of the neck for a very smooth, dry playing feel. The fingerboard is made of very dark Indian Rosewood with a 10" radius, medium frets and a 1.68" tusq nut. The hardware is vintage style Gotoh or similar, including a steel block trem bridge. The electronics include three Lindy Fralin Blues Special single coils with the typical Strat control setup.

This is a marvelous Strat, with a quality that equals or exceeds that of builders like Chad Underwood, LSL and the like and the aging is better than any of those other builders. This one plays great too, and I love the feel of Dave's necks, which tend to have a slightly more pronounced V-shape than most. The Fralin pickups give it a great tone, as evidenced by the included sound sample.

This guitar is in superb, albeit aged, condition and the frets show little to no wear. It comes in an older and well worn Fender reissue tweed case.

As I said, if you are looking for a great value in a hand-built and very high quality aged Stratocster-style guitar, here you are. Make this black beauty yours and you will be very glad you did!
