Offered for sale;

Used c1965 Silvertone 1448 Electric Guitar with "All-in-one" Amplifier-Case.

This 1448 is in excellent condition, the neck and frets are fine, the amp-case is also in excellent condition and fully functional. We have had quite a few “1448” guitar and amp-case combos pass through our shop over the years, this one is particularly clean.

The Danelectro Amp-In-Case, properly known as Solid-body Electric Guitar with "All-in-one" Amplifier-Case or Silvertone 1448, is a line of guitar sets introduced from 1962 to 1968. It was sold for $67.95 and sometimes included a 45 rpm how-to-play record, as part of Sears Silvertone.

The 3/4-sized guitar has a double cutaway semi-hollow body in a shape similar to a Stratocaster. The body is composed of a poplar center block and frame with Masonite top and back. It comes with a single lipstick pickup at the "middle" position, controlled by a volume and tone knob. The poplar neck is fitted with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, has a nut width of 1 3/4" and only has 18 frets with a scale length of 23 1/2". The neck connects to the body with three bolts. This 1448 weighs in at only 5.4 lbs. making it a very comfortable player.

The coolest feature of this set is that the amplifier is built into the top-half of the hard-shell guitar case. The 1448 series is a simple 3-watt amplifier with 3 tubes. A 12 AU6 preamp, 50C5 power and 35W4 rectifier respectively. A 5-in speaker is fitted and there is a single volume control.

Many of top rock guitarists throughout Rock n Roll history own or have owned Silvertones and “Danos." They play them on stage and use them in the studio. Beck’s main guitar is the 1448, with an old Rush sticker, and a sticker that says: "I &heart; Country Music. Other notable 1448 enthusiasts through the years have included Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Melissa Etheridge and many others. Joe Perry of Aerosmith once offered someone $30,000 for an entire Danelectro collection!

This neat piece of early 60's Americana, has gained significant value on the collector’s market. Come and get it!

“We carefully inspect every instrument when we buy it and bring it up to our standards before we offer it for sale. We also do a full set up before we ship. If you decide to purchase this guitar, please let us know what gauge strings you prefer.”

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.
